China, known for its unprecedented progress and making its image as a strong economic power has a long history of struggle that’s always been admired by developing countries like Pakistan. During my visit to China in 2019, I was amazed to see a different face of China that we mostly didn’t witness in the Western media. It’s a country with economic stability, cultural diversity, a strong social system, and some of the best tourist destinations and that’s just because of the dedication and hard work of both the Government and the People of China.

The paper-free economy is something that I was amazed to see from a simple town vendor to an urban train station, you don’t need to keep paper money, have a WeChat account and you can buy anything. From a simple village man to a businessman in a metropolitan city, a university-going girl to a housewife, all are using WeChat and paying. That was the best example of any innovation I have ever seen.

China is the best example of ‘Hard work paid off’ as even in Pakistan, you will see and use Chinese products that is from simple household items to high fi Information technology products. Making economic agreements with developed and developing countries by President Xi Jinping shows the wise decisions of the Chinese Government that is working for the betterment of their country. “Over the past 20 years, China’s economy has grown from the 6th to 2nd largest in the world, trade in goods from 6th to 1st, and trade in service from 11th to 2nd. China has led developing countries in foreign investment, and its outbound direct investment has risen from 26th to 1st. The past 20 years have seen a China that is expanding reform and pursuing all-round opening up, a China that is seizing opportunities and rising to challenges, and a China that is stepping up to its responsibilities and benefiting the whole world.” (Xi Jinping: The Governance of China IV).

China has instigated some innovative Poverty reduction practices that have helped them to make a distinctive place in the world. One of the most important factors is the involvement of their people, by giving them a feeling of oneness that we didn’t see anywhere else. With the continuous Chinese economic growth and national strength, Xi Jinping has continued to provide foreign aid to developing countries to make a valuable contribution to the early accomplishment of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). In addition to this, China has made infrastructure investments in several developing countries under the Belt and Road Initiative. Similarly, meetings and diplomatic discussions with large economies will result in increased economic prospects, cooperation, and trade agreements. President Xi Jinping’s four-day visit to San Francisco, California, will surely strengthen relations between the two biggest economies in the world and give the Asia-Pacific region new momentum for cooperation. During his speech at the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation Summit, he said, “Openness and inclusiveness are the defining features of Asia-Pacific cooperation. Development in our region has been achieved not through provoking antagonism and confrontation, pursuing a beggar-thy-neighbor policy, or erecting high fences around a small yard, but by staying open and inclusive and drawing on each other’s strengths” that shows his inclusive approach to economic development.

China’s targeted poverty alleviation strategies by involving the community in decision-making and Government support helps to lift communities out of poverty, contributing to broader national development goals. This approach reflects a nuanced understanding of the complexities of poverty and a determination to create lasting, positive change at the local level. Time management, hard work, sincerity with the profession, simple way of living are some of the visible traits in China that I feel helped them to progress economically.
