Kalam Valley also known as the jewel of nature, is located almost 99 km away from swat valley on the bank of the Suvastu River. It is a vast sub-valley of Swat Valley located at an altitude of about 2,000 meters above sea level in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa a province of Pakistan.

Kalam Valley is encircled by green hills and thick forests and is blessed with fascinating Lakes, sparkling meadows, and waterfalls everywhere, making the valley a place to visit absolutely. It is the birthplace of the Swat River which also gives it the name of “the land of birth” is the blending place of two major rivers Gabral River and the Ushu River.

An all-weather road ends here in Kalam Valley and a road leads to two different valleys Ushu and Utror. Views of the snow-covered mountains, notably Falak Sair Mountain, which climbs to a height of 5, 918 meters and has an unnamed peak at 6,096 meters above sea level, are visible from Matiltan.

Kalam Valley is located almost 11 km away from Matiltan which is next to Ushu Valley. It is well recognized for its massive glaciers, heavy forest cover, and high mountain tops. The tallest peak, Falak Sair, can be seen from this valley.

Ushu Valley:

Ushu Valley contains some of the Swat Valley’s most breathtaking terrain. Northeast of Kalam Valley is where it is situated. It is 8 kilometers from Kalam Valley and 123 km from Saidu Sharif. In terms of elevation, it is 2,300 meters. A jeep is needed to access it because the metalized road ends at Kalam Valley.

Gabral Town:

Gabral is a charming hill town, almost 20 kilometers from Kalam Valley. Brown trout (fish), dense, lush woods, singing springs, the highest snow-capped summits, and stunning lakes are some of its most well-known features.

Lakes in Kalam Valley:

There are several alpine glacial lakes in Kalam Valley, but Mahodand Lake and Kundol Lake are particularly well-known for their breathtaking scenery and ease of access. Other lakes, including Izmis Lake, which is close to Kundol Lake, are among the most well-known due to their gorgeous surroundings. You need trekking skills to reach them.

One of the biggest and most interesting lakes in the Swat Valley is Mahodand Lake, also referred to as The Lake of Fishes. It is situated in the Ushu Valley, some 40 kilometers away from Kalam Valley. It is reachable with a four-wheel-drive car, is a great fishing destination, and is great for boating and camping. Snow-capped mountains, emerald meadows, and dense forests all encircle it.
